Delicious Peanuts Make Even More Delicious Desserts

Founding Farmers prides itself on our scratch-made food, which we think is delicious for three main reasons: smart recipes, great chefs, and high-quality ingredients. We work hard to ensure that all of the food on our menus has all three.

Take our house-churned Peanut Butter Brownie Ice Cream and our Crunchy Potato Peanut Butter Caramel Sundae. These two delicious desserts – now available at our Founding Farmers First Bake Cafe & Creamery, part of our Founding Farmers King of Prussia restaurant – have one very important ingredient in common: peanuts.

We get these peanuts from Belmont Peanuts, a small, family-owned company in the Southside region of Virginia, known as the “heart of peanut country.” They farm, cook, and package locally grown Virginia gourmet cocktail peanuts.

The Marks family began a small mail order business using generations-old techniques with a commitment to good environmental practices. Over a decade ago, they joined forces with the Peck family, known for their peanut-cooking prowess. These two families have together created something very special.

The main reason, according to David Peck: “We are small enough that we cook every peanut by hand, just the way I was taught so many years ago. No automated equipment to cook our nuts, just one batch at time, plain and simple.”

Those high-quality, handmade peanuts make their way to us, where we also work with them by hand, to make our guests some very tasty desserts. Our chefs, led by our culinary leader, Chef Joe, have developed, and continue to refine, all of our recipes so they are just right. We think our Peanut Butter Brownie Ice Cream and our Crunchy Potato Peanut Butter Caramel Sundae meet the mark.

Please stop by our King of Prussia location to give one of them a try. You can get the ice cream on a cone to go, or take a load off and enjoy your dessert at our counter or one of our cafe tables. We are certain you will have a big heart for what we have done with those delicious nuts from the heart of peanut country.
